Saturday April 24, 2021 - Every year, the residents of the 80125 area come together on an April morning and clean up our area. Many adults will be cleaning the roadsides coming into our community. Kids, students (need community hours) and adults will be cleaning around ponds, and walkways and in general, throughout the entire community. Many students, residents, and organizations take a few hours to help on this Saturday. This year, the initial meeting of our crews will be at Roxborough Village at the gazebo parking area at 8:45 am sharp (near the softball field and basketball courts). We will start at 9:00 a.m. until noonish. Please contact District Management if you'd like to participate or receive additional information.
NEIGHBORS DIG IN WITH WILDFLOWERS
In October, 18 amazing volunteers planted wildflowers along Little Willow Creek near Chatfield Farms Park, using seeds of 11 wildflower species harvested locally. The large clusters of plantings were chosen to create seasonal color, reintroduce native plant species, and improve the visual experience with plants that are sustainable and low-maintenance. Click Here to see a list of wildflower species that were planted. Click here to see the amazing volunteers that made it happen.
Adding native wildflower gardens was one of the many recommendations in the Roxborough Village Open Space Master Plan completed in 2020. Thanks to the volunteers and the Roxborough Village Metro District's Environmental Committee for their leadership!
REC CENTER TASK FORCE
The Roxborough Village Metropolitan District's Rec Center Task Force is underway with a 5-month process to explore the potential for a community recreation facility in Roxborough Village. The Task Force is comprised of 14 volunteers who will study key aspects of recreation facilities - everything from design to financing, feature to programs - and make recommendations to the Metro District Board of Directors this summer. See the Rec Center Task Force page for more information.
OPEN SPACE LAND USE
We have noticed an increase in dumping of yard debris and other materials in District open space. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind the community that illegal dumping can lead to serious hazards such as flooding, fire hazards, landscape damage, and erosion. Additionally, unauthorized changes to permanent infrastructure and landscaping can cause similar outcomes. This includes installing landscape features on open space and floodplain areas. Please see District maintained property map for reference. The District management team is available to answer questions regarding the use of public property, and encourages residents to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding the use of these spaces.
